Border Wall Construction Begins in San Diego, and There’s a Special Surprise for Anyone Thinking of Climbing it

SOURCE | Construction finally started on one section of President Trump’s much awaited border wall. The building began in San Diego along the border shared between the United States and Mexico. It was noted by local reporters that anyone thinking about climbing the wall was in for a shock.

The Hill reports that Fox 8’s local new affiliate explained that part of the wall boasts an “anti-climbing plate.” This will take up around 14 miles of border fencing is was made out of reused scrap metal. The “anti-climbing plate” part of the wall will start around half a mile away from the Pacific Ocean. It will be somewhere between 18 and 30 feet tall. The “anti-climbing plate” will have no surface that will be able to be helpful if anyone were to attempt to scale the wall.

The current “wall” was actually built from scrap metal back in the 1990s. It only stood between 8 and 10 feet high, which made it easy for illegal aliens to make their way over the top.

Conservativecash.us reports:

The Border Patrol praised the action, saying that the San Diego section would be one of their top priorities.

Rodney Scott, chief of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for the San Diego area, told Fox 8 that the construction will improve public safety in the area.

“The construction of this new substantial wall will improve overall border security, the safety and effectiveness of Border Patrol agents, the safety of the public, and will enhance the atmosphere for business and commerce in the area,” Scott said.

Ronald Vitiello, Customs and Border Protection’s acting Deputy Commissioner, labeled it as an “important milestone” in President Trump’s work to secure the border.

Vitiello stated, “Under this President’s leadership, we have a renewed commitment to secure our border.”

He went on, “The new primary wall-project represents an important milestone in our work to secure the international border. Not only does it significantly upgrade our existing infrastructure in San Diego, it also marks the third concurrent wall project in the U.S. and reflects CBP’s unwavering commitment to secure our borders and protect our Nation.”

The New York Post reports that San Diego Sector Border Patrol’s Vincent C. Pirro explained that the wall will do what it was intended to do, keep illegal aliens out.

He stated, “What I can tell you is that infrastructure works. We have seen a correlation between construction of border infrastructure and the reduction of illegal human and drug traffic… we expect the new wall in San Diego to have a similar effect.”

The new border wall will start at Border Field State Park, roughly half a mile off the coastline of the Pacific Ocean. The wall will continue east.

The Post reports:

The U.S. Border Patrol’s San Diego Sector, which covers 60 miles of the US-Mexico boundary, is one of the most active in the nation. Last year, its officers arrested more than 26,000 illegal immigrants and seized nearly 11,000 pounds of marijuana and 3,000 pounds of cocaine.

The money comes from the omnibus spending bill that Trump signed in March. The legislation included a $1.6 billion down payment on the “great, great” wall that – Trump promised throughout his presidential campaign – would stretch across the nation’s southern border.

This is wonderful news! We are on our way to a more secure country with a border wall that will actually work.
